"Holy Spirit" Bryan and Katie Torwalt
You know the drill.
Lyrics:
That will ever come close
Nothing can compare
You're our Living Hope
Your Presence
I've tasted and I've seen
Of the sweetest of loves
Where my heart becomes free
And my shame is undone
Your presence Lord
Holy Spirit You are welcome here
Come flood this place and fill the atmosphere
Your glory God is what our hearts long for
To be overcome by Your presence Lord
Let us become more aware of Your presence,
Let us experience the glory of Your goodness.
Bryan and Katie Torwalt are worship leaders from Jesus Culture based out of Bethel Church in Reading, CA. Their new record, entitled "Here on Earth" is an exercise in melodic and reverent worship.
In an Interview with Andrew Kooman, Bryan told readers about their songwriting process:
"we are currently worship pastors at a church in Fresno, CA. So these songs have really had a year of practicing in front of an audience before we ever recorded. We’d do a song on a Sunday, then take it home and change it, see what worked well with a band and what didn’t. You can really tell when an audience catches on easy, and if they didn’t, we usually changed something."To me, "Holy Spirit" is a very successful song. It couples simplicity with unique lyrics and an engaging hook. Not even mentioning the coldplay-esque build towards the end and drum break during the bridge. So many things that as a worship leader, I would love to incorporate into my songwriting and corporate worship experience.
I am still listening through the record, and will be sure to review it on the blog. But if this song is any indication of the other songs to come, then I will certainly be blessed by the album.
